SMS Environmental stands at the forefront of water hygiene and environmental compliance across the UK, trusted by over 1500 clients. Founded in 2001 by expert chemists, microbiologists, and engineers, SMS provides tailored, intelligent solutions for managing water quality and compliance.
In collaboration with SMS, I developed a custom LoRa IoT temperature monitoring solution fully integrated into their Opuz Compliance Software—launched prominently at the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
The IoT device leverages advanced LoRa technology to remotely monitor water temperature across extensive building complexes. Equipped with three robust temperature sensors designed specifically for secure attachment to metal water pipes, this system ensures highly accurate and reliable data transmission.
Built for reliability, the device features three powerful batteries, ensuring high transmission power and impressive longevity of up to six years on a single charge at high data exchange rates. The sensors effortlessly transmit data across multiple buildings, reaching a central LoRa Gateway, significantly reducing installation complexity and operational costs.
With strict adherence to compliance and safety, the device is CE and UKCA certified, including built-in reverse polarity protection. Its robust extruded aluminum housing boasts an IP67 rating, making it resilient against environmental factors and ensuring uninterrupted, maintenance-free operation even in demanding conditions.
Fully integrated within SMS Environmental’s Opuz Compliance Software, my LoRa sensors deliver real-time temperature data, actionable alerts, and detailed trend analysis. Opuz users benefit from centralized data management, instant compliance reporting, and proactive risk management—all from a single, intuitive platform.
The successful collaboration of Opuz software and my IoT devices had practical impact of this partnership. Together, we have set new standards for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in environmental monitoring, offering SMS clients unmatched peace of mind.
